1st Horizon ‘s IT need
As a highly respected South Yorkshire surveying and engineering firm, 1st Horizon recognised the need to update their IT system to make computer-based activities around surveying, mapping and measurement more efficient.
Saving projects and rendering across the network was becoming increasingly time consuming. It was also taking up valuable time on office computers that couldn’t be used for any other activity while this intensive process was being carried out. A new solution was needed to fit the firm’s budget while giving the team an efficient way to manage and store the significant amount of data generated from projects 3D laser printing and auto cad drawings.

The 101 solution
Our multi-tiered 3-PAR system gave the team of surveyors the computer performance and speeds they needed. Consisting of a high-performance SSD, mid-tier 10K SAS and lower tier 7.2K discs, the refurbished system offered the client an efficient and cost-effective solution, more traditionally used in corporate environments. The system is also futureproofed with the ability to add more disc space as needed.
Next steps and successes
Following successful implementation of the IT system, 101 Digital Solutions continue to provide ongoing maintenance, back-up to our own data centre, security and firewalls. We have also introduced elements of Office 365, Microsoft’s best-in-class office software.
